15 Steps To Facilitate a Spiritual Awakening
Many of us may be thinking about the challenges of 2020 and looking to 2021. I’m going to tap into this energy, and share some of the road map I follow on my ongoing Spiritual Journey. Being human we have a Spirit, Mind, and Body. When we nurture one the other two expand. When we lower the vibration of one the others follow. Practicing self-care habits that address all three remarkably increases our vibration.
Spiritual Awakening is not an external experience that is done “to us.” It’s an extremely personal internal experience that is not at all unicorns and rainbows. It’s often extremely difficult, painful and can feel like dialysis of the soul.
There are many ways to raise our vibration. The 15 I’m sharing today are ones I found to be most powerful on my healing journey. My hope is that everyone here finds some that resonate. I’ll discuss these from a physical and energetic perspective.
Meditation: Meditation helps us become more conscious of our thoughts. It is a manageable way to begin introducing new thoughts and ideas, in do-able chunks and pieces. It creates more space for inspiration and spiritual awareness. It helps heal old wounds, empowers us to be mindful in our life to create the life we want, and physically increases blood flow to the brain. It’s even been shown to change and improve the structure of the brain. It helps reduce anxiety, depression, pain and improves concentration, attention, and self-awareness.
Eat healthy foods and drink water: With food we bless ourselves or hinder ourselves on a physical and energetic level. Food has an energetic vibration to it. Many Americans consume a cocktail of pesticides, additives, hormones, dyes, sodium, and non-food items added to increase profits. Low vibrational foods include white flour-based foods, deep fried, fast food, processed foods, chemically treated, unhealthy fats, gmo’s and foods loaded with sugars. Consuming large amounts of low vibrational foods results in ill health, stagnancy, and low energy. High-vibrational foods include organic fruits and veggies, nuts, wheat germ, legumes, whole grains, olive and coconut oil, natural supplements like spirulina, wheat germ, chia and flax seeds, natural herbs and spices and herbal teas. As the owners of our physical bodies we assume full responsibility for how we care for our living cells. Drinking plenty of water also helps improve circulation, excretes toxins and properly lubricates our cells. Everything we swallow makes an impact on us and what we consume we become. Eating high-vibration foods help us reach higher physical vibration, energy consciousness and brings clearer thinking.
Exercise: Exercise keep us healthy, fit, toned and the rhythmic movement gets healing chi energy circulating throughout the body. It helps to physically ground us and gives us an opportunity to clear mind chatter through rhythmic activity. The good news is we can literally rebuild and redesign ourselves on a cellular level through exercise. This also connects us to the natural healing benefits of endorphins, which help us feel happier and more relaxed. Exercise naturally helps treat low vibrational symptoms of depression, PTSD, chronic pain, anxiety, anger, fear, doubt, regret, heart disease, stroke, obesity, addiction, and trauma to name a few. Our body is our temple and when we nurture it with love, our Spirit and Mind vibrations rise that much higher.
Manage the Ego: We ALL have an ego, every single one of us. It’s not easy to look at ourselves subjectively, but learning to do this can help us see how our ego is affecting our life and actions. When we don’t think we express ego with our actions, it applies its energy to our thoughts and beliefs and can then affect our behavior. When we lead the ego instead of with our hearts our higher vibration intentions are diminished. If you’re sitting there saying to yourself, “I don’t have an ego” you’re not looking closely enough! If you are human you have an ego. YOU CANNOT KILL THE EGO! You CAN direct ego energy into positive action to powerfully raise your vibration.
Become Conscious of Your Thoughts: What we think we become. Our thoughts introduce us when we walk into a room before we even speak. When we fill our mind with doubts, fears and regrets that’s what we experience and walk forward with. Negative thinking causes negative behavior. Feed yourself positivity, and that is what will increase. Gratitude, truth and love have the highest energy vibrations. We believe everything we tell ourselves. Become aware of the negative head chatter and learn to observe those thoughts then let them go.
Feel and Share Gratitude: Feeling and expressing gratitude leads our mind to a space of thankfulness. Being thankful for our blessings, however small makes us aware of abundance. It is good to acknowledge that no matter where we are, things can ALWAYS get worse. Simply taking moments throughout the day to appreciate blessings with gratitude leads us toward a higher vibration and awareness. This opens up and expands the heart chakra.
Reduce drug and alcohol consumption: Use plants as medicine. Drugs and alcohol, even many prescription drugs, can cause us to change our behavior in ways that can weaken our spirit, mind and body vibrations. Seeking relief from stress, anxiety, fear, depression and even PTSD in healthier ways blesses us, instead of curses us. There are many natural herbs, tinctures, ayurvedic, native american and holistic medicines that can help us cope with these conditions in more helpful, healing ways.
Spend Time Thinking Creatively Daily: When we allow ourselves time to draw, paint, write, play music, dance, listen to instrumental music or whatever we are pulled towards it helps guide our thoughts towards creative thinking and manifesting what it is we dream of. Thinking creatively even just 10 minutes a day helps us step outside the box in our head to imagine and nurture our creative visions. This also helps open our heart to Spirit working through us. The use of color and music can be quite healing, and helps us tap into our higher consciousness to provide deeper understanding and awareness. It does not matter if you are a terrible dancer or artist. Giving yourself permission to play creativity is where the main benefit lies, not in the finished product.
Steer Clear of Energy Vampires: These are emotionally immature individuals who have the sense that the whole world revolves around them. These people are often incapable of seeing things from another person’s perspective and lack empathy. They include the narcissists, blamers, guilt trippers, the jealous, the insecure, the fun haters, the bullies, the debbie downers, the blamers, the whiners, the short tempers, gossipers and drama queens. They are unable to create their own positive energy so they navigate the world by attacking, insulting, and sucking positive energy from higher vibrational people. They subject us to lower vibrational thinking patterns and it rubs off. After spending time with them we may find ourselves completely drained of positive energy replaced with frustration, anger, anxiety and fearfulness. These are clear signs that it’s time to separate ourselves from these individuals. If we don’t, we begin to take on their lower vibration characteristics and function at that low vibrational level. Become aware of the vibrational level of aquaintances, friends and family and take charge of managing your energy and who you allow into your inner circle. Helping people in need is one thing, but letting them suck us dry of our positive energy is neither healthy nor healing. Recognize when their words or actions are unacceptable. Set boundaries. Don’t give them permission to leech your energy. Take a step back by putting their words or actions into perspective. Their behavior is a reflection on them, not you. Speak up for yourself. Affirm your self-worth. You deserve to be surrounded by positive, genuine, and caring people who inspire you to be your very best.
Get Enough Sleep: Our bodies and minds need rest to heal and recover from the business of the day. Giving the proper attention to getting enough sleep helps us heal physically, mentally, and rebuilds our body, mind and spirit strength. Lack of sleep lowers our vibration and can leave us irritable, fatigued, unfocused, anxious or ill. When we are rested we feel more balanced, energized and ready to take on the world at our highest vibration.
Limit low vibration media: Exposure to negative, angry, deceptive, hateful, abusive and fake news stories lowers our vibration. When we give thinking time to those energies, they pull us backwards into negative thinking patterns. Low vibration media is driven by the lowest common denominator. When we let those patterns of thinking consume us, we authenticate their ideas by giving them head space in our minds. Reposting that type of media feeds the angry beast and lower vibrations. Setting boundaries for what we allow others to make us think, consume and believe sets us free to fill our minds with positivity, encouragement and love. Operating from points of discouragement, fear, and limited awareness are low vibration energies. Every form of media has a vibration. Does what you watch, listen to and read dramatise or glamorise a lower vibrational way of life? How does it make you feel while you’re engaging with it? What kind of an impression does it give of human beings and the world we live in? Include more higher vibrational forms of media in your life with inspirational, educational or transformational messages. Remember that everything is energy, so be mindful of the frequencies you’re submerging yourself in.
Practice random acts of kindness: Expect nothing in return. Compliment someone, give things away, share love, help an elderly person cross the street, lend a helping hand to someone and watch your vibration rise. The energy we put out into the world is the same energy we receive. We can alter energetic karma by doing good deeds. Mindfully choosing to express our Light instead of our darkness increases the vibration of our day and the community. We all have a shadow side and a light side. Every day CHOOSE light.
Practice compassion and forgiveness: Forgiving and having compassion for someone who hurts us may be the hardest thing for us to do on this list, but it’s one of the most important. I never knew how strong I was until I had to forgive someone who wasn’t sorry and accept an apology I never received. When we release ourselves from attachments to people who have harmed us, we reclaim our power. Thoughts of revenge are low vibration, while thoughts of forgiveness are high. Thinking thoughts of forgiveness about someone in your past without taking any action will raise your vibration. Before forgiving someone, make sure you’ve re-established any boundaries that were crossed and communicated this to them. Sometimes we also need to allow time and space before we’re ready to forgive someone. We don’t ever have to allow people back into our life that we don’t want in it. Forgiveness doesn’t require that. Remembering that everyone is simply acting from their current vibration can help us let go of resentments or anger we might be carrying towards others that eat away at us inside.
Let go of the past to heal: Many of us go our whole lives without clearing out the cobwebs and as a consequence we prevent ourselves from living a complete, happy and fulfilled life. When we follow unresolved emotional patterns or negative belief systems from the past, we bring the same negative thinking into our future reality. Finding a good practitioner to help us work through these patterns can also be quite helpful. You will thank yourself when you walk out the other side with a healed heart full of love, strength, understanding, consciousness and power. It’s extremely important to also forgive ourselves when healing. One of my favorite Maya Angelou quotes is, “Now that you know better, do better.”
Don’t blame your circumstances for your vibrational shortcomings: We are products of our environment, but we have the power to transform darkness to light. During very difficult times we often find out deeper truths about ourselves and the life we want to lead. We cannot control the wind, but we can adjust our sails to always reach our destination. A home and job that supports and encourages a higher vibrational way of life is always preferable, but for a lot of people this just isn’t possible. We must therefore take full responsibility for our awakening and transformation in the face of lower vibrational energies and triggers and put strategies in place that support us on this journey.
When we care for, nurture and actively heal all three aspects of ourselves as Spirit, Mind, Body souls we achieve a higher vibration across all areas of life. When we heal ourselves, we can then begin powerfully affecting the vibration of the greater community.
The good news is that 2021 is bringing us a powerful energetic shift that can offer us great assistance as we tap into these higher vibrations. The great Lakota Chief Crazy Horse foretold of this time. He saw this time come when the people began to awaken, not all at once but a few here and there, and then more and more. He saw that they were dancing in a beautiful light of the Spirit World under the Sacred Tree while still on Earth. The day before he was murdered Crazy Horse said:
“Upon suffering beyond suffering, the red nation shall rise again and it shall be a blessing for the sick world. A world filled with broken promises, selfishness and separations. A world longing for light again. I see a time of seven generations, when all the colors of mankind will gather under the sacred tree of life and the whole earth will become one circle again. In that day, those among the Lakota will carry knowledge and understanding of unity among all living things, and the young white ones will come, to those of my people to ask for wisdom. I salute the light within their eyes where the whole universe dwells, for when you are at the center within you and I am at that place within me, we are as One.”
We are now living in the time of 7 generations from his death. These powerful prophesies are being realized and manifested all over the world where prayer is paired with direct action. You are a powerful human being, and you can change the world from a dark, cruel place to a loving and abundant world. The best way to be an active participant in that is to heal yourself first and awaken the best version of yourself.
Miracles do happen and Spirit does answer our prayers. Man can also magnify the intentions of Spirit through love to raise vibrations. The native concept of the “Great Spirit in Man” is the pairing of the energy of Spirit with the energy of loving human actions to create higher vibrational individuals and communities. When we move from our heart and act in the name of Love through Spirit, we raise our vibration and the vibrations of all we affect.
We are entering into a powerful Universal energy shift where we can elevate our consciousness and manifest a new reality based on Love. I invite everyone to draw on courage to leave the low vibrational energies of fear, anger, hate, doubt, judgement, blame, pain, torment, disbelief, illness and ignorance and instead fill our spirits, mind and bodies with health, self care, wellness, positivity, growth, enlightenment, awakening, healing, light, strength, intuition, acceptance, knowledge, understanding and love. When we pair our intentions with direct action it transforms into results and we powerfully assist Spirit in creating a higher vibrational reality.
